Our Story: Born in the Jungle
Sumatra Trekkers was born from a profound, lifelong connection to the Sumatran rainforest. As locals, born and raised in Bukit Lawang, the very town bordering this magnificent ecosystem, we've spent our lives living and breathing its rhythms, and working within the tourism industry. We saw an opportunity and a deep personal responsibility-to do things differently. It was time to create something of our own: a venture built on better standards, more authentic experiences, and above all, a profound love and respect for the incredible wildlife and immense biodiversity that thrives here.
Our mission is to not only offer exceptional jungle adventures, but to lead with a steadfast commitment to protecting this vital ecosystem and empowering the local communities who call it home, setting a new bench mark for responsible and impactful tourism.

Amri boasts over a decade of extensive experience in the diverse and captivating Sumatran wilderness, where he has honed his skills and knowledge of the area's unique ecosystems and wildlife. He leads the teams in all things trekking, training and support.
Karan Syah
Karan serves as our lead guide and will provide a wealth of insights to enhance your experience with his reputable cheeky smile and buzz for adventure.
Marwan Setepu
Marwan, one of our dynamic lead guides, he will offer a treasure trove of vibrant insights that will elevate your experience.
Syarifa Aini
Syarifa manages all trek logistics to ensuresmooth experiences for our guests.
Darmawansyah
Darmawansyah leads our jungle chef team to make sure all our guests are fed nutritious and wholesome local food.
Michael Kyriakou
Michael is a passionate adventurer & environmentalist who experienced first hand how great Amri and his team were. Michael decided to help them build their own trekking business. Michael advises on all things business strategy, brand and marketing.
